Sewage Pipe Demo
EcoStyle's Sewage Pipe Demo gives a graphic demonstration of the problems caused when unsuitable objects enter the sewer system.
The model consists of a rotating sewage pipe divided into two halves. One half shows what should be flushed (i.e. sewage), while the other half shows the blockages that can be caused by non-flushable items and fats, oils and grease (FOG) entering the sewer system.
The model is hand-made, ensuring a very realistic finish guaranteed to delight children and disgust adults! The contents can be adapted during manufacture to suit your audience requirements.
The ‘Good’ Side
This side of the sewage pipe shows items that can be flushed - the 3Ps of the bathroom:
Pee
Poo
Toilet Paper
These items can be safely flushed without risk of causing blockages in the sewer system.
This provides the opportunity to point out that toilet paper is designed to quickly disintegrate after flushing, whereas wipes (even so-called ‘flushable’ wipes) do not break down and can contribute significantly to sewer blockages.
The ‘Bad’ Side
This side shows the types of items that must not enter the sewer system:
Wipes
Cotton buds
Nappies
Razor blades
Clump of hair
Sticking plaster and wrapper
Painkiller blister pack
Tights
Plastic bag
Plastic toy
Fats, oils and grease (see below)
FOG Blockage
The ‘bad’ side also features a blockage caused by fats, oils and grease (FOG) entering the sewer system.
Liquid fat from cooking and foods high in fat will cool and harden within the sewer pipes.
Blockages are compounded when other non-flushable items become trapped by the FOG deposits.
Branding Included
The model includes organisation’s logo on both sides of the model’s mounting base, and on the padded storage case.
